converting HD to SD anamorphic
Hi. I’m hoping someone can help me with this. I’ve looked through older postings and can’t find a perfect answer. I’ve got a 1280×720 comp that I rendered lower field dominant with the Avid DNXHD highest-quality codec. Now I need to convert it to 720×480 (or 486, whichever is better) anamorphic. I don’t want to rerender, so I’ve taken the 1280 rendered file, brought it back into AE and dropped it in a 720×480 widescreen comp and sized to screen. The render looks bad. Oddly aliased. It almost looks like it’s missing a field, but I kept the footage interlaced. Any ideas?

you must use care when scaling a layer to fit the comp and make sure the x and y scale values are equal. I always use ctrl/cmnd + alt/option + h instead of F so that the scaled layer fits horizontally and the pixel aspect ratio is maintained.
