    Hi all,

I have a project in premiere with some after effects files linked into it. Both settings for these are at hdtv 720p 1280 x 720 square pix 29.97fps. I export from premiere as mpeg-2 dvd. some quality is lost but small text is still readable. However after I burn in encore, the quality is terrible once on dvd. I used cbr 8 and no transcoding since its already a mpeg2 file. Is there some setting im forgetting? Is it just the way hd footage is compressed to dvd? can i burn a blu ray image on a dvd-r?.. any help would be much appreciated.

    james,
SD-TV is really bad if you are starting at HD. if you are working 29.98 you need to downscale to NTSC-DVD, and this is twice as worth.

NTSC has a really bad resolution: 720×480

if you would like to create a 720p-blu-ray on DVD, that would be possible but wont be playable on DVD-players.

BD-content on DVD is called AVCHD-disc and will be played on every BD-player, but no menus will be visible.

but you need to burn the BD using UDF2.5-format.

    cheers
