  • converting FCP7 project to AVID MC?

I’ve got a legacy FCP7 project that I started a few years ago, and have since become more comfortable in AVID. And also as I update my Mac OS, FCP7 will begin to get phased out.

Has anyone had any experience converting a FCP7 project to AVID, and if so, what are your thoughts? This is fairly complex project with lots of folders, bins, subclips, sequences, etc.

automatic duck will convert the sequence for you, but you will be on your own for all the bin and folder structures.

Don’t do it. Glenn is right, there’s no way to bring over the bin structure. If it’s fairly complex, stick with FCP 7. Keep the same computer and just use that until the project is done. If it dies and you need another one, get a used one that will run FCP 7.

Don’t change horses mid race, especially when it’s a complex project. Because you can’t convert it.
