  • Converting cineons to linear 16 bit tiffs and back?

Posted by Peter O’connell on June 9, 2005 at 12:05 am

Hi I have been working with cineons lately using the log to lin top adjustment layer method. Instead of this method I have been trying to find a way to roundtrip cineons, that is to say convert them to linear 16 bit tiff and work on those tiffs and then render the frames back out using a lin to log adjustment layer. I have come close with elin but when I compare the 16 bit tiffs (including conversion) to the cineons using a difference blending mode, there is a slight difference especially in the super whites. Does anyone know of a good explanation of how to do this so that there is no colour shift?
    Bye
    Pete
