Converting a DVCProHD sequence to SD using Quicktime in LETTERBOX
Posted by Dneira on March 16, 2007 at 4:08 pmI have tried many settings to convert a DVCProHD sequence using Quicktime Pro into SD in Letterbox format. No mattar what I do it only gives me an anamorphic version. Is there a way to achieve a letterbox sd version?

March 16, 2007 at 5:07 pmIn Quicktime Player,
Export/Movie to Quicktime Movie
Click Options:
Settings: Select 8 or 10 bit Uncompressed
Size; Select in pulldown menu NTSC 720 x486 4:3 (or PAL..you didnt specify)IF YOU DO NOT SET THE SIZE AS ABOVE, IT WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY.
Check Box: Check Preserve Aspect Ratio
In Pulldown menu select: LetterboxWorks for me, anyway.
This may be better for you than dropping into an SD sequence in FCP, as suggested earlier, as you will not need the additional drive space for the render.

March 16, 2007 at 9:15 pmAnothe option is:
– Create an SD timeline
– Drop all your HD footage
– Change the distort option of one clip to -30%
– Copy
– Select All
– Paste Attributes
– RenderIt takes more words and time to explain than the number of right clicks to do it.
