  • Converting 960×540 to 720×576 FHA?

    Hello,

I need to convert an advert that was made in Japan to the correct format for broadcast on TV in the UK.

The advert is currently in 30fps and 960×540. I need to deliver in 25fps 720×576 FHA (Full Height Anamorphic).

Does anyone have a workflow that can resolve this without ending up with black bars or stretched aspect ratios?

I am editing on FCP X.

    Any help much appreciated!

I’d just create a 720×576 anamorphic project and then drop the advert in. Set spatial conform to fill and FCPX should handle the rest.

Maybe add a little sharpening to compensate for zooming in on the original clip, and then export the project. Export via compressor to access the better resizing options if FCPX’s defaults aren’t giving a decent result.

That should be all there is to it.

Jeff, apologies for the delayed response and thankyou for taking the time to answer. I tried this and the results seem fine. Out of curiosity as the original file was 30fps and it’s now 25fps, does FCPX just ignore every 6th frame? Thanks again
