Converting 720p + Beta timeline to ALL SD
Hey all: long time browser, first time poster here…
I apologize, but after searching the forums for a bit, I didn’t see this issue addressed. I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.
My client presented me with both 720p (specifically the new JVC FCP format), and digibeta footage that needed to be edited into a single 720p piece that had all of the elements “SD safe” for broadcast. So, when building the graphics etc, I built wings for the project, made “frames” for the SD footage and made sure that I correctly laid in the SD footage so that it showed up properly when viewed on both SD and HD…
Now, all of a sudden, they want to abandon ALL of the HD graphics and content, and switch to an SD ONLY piece.
My question is this: What is the best way to convert the sequence(s) so that the SD content is at full resolution, and the HD content now “scales down” to a size that can be shown in the right aspect on SD? I’ve tried just loading in a new sequence preset, but changing from HD to SD seems to make things very grainy and nasty. Is there an easy way to move everything over?
Thank you for your time,
-Phil Smith
