    Hi,

Hope this is the right place to find useful ideas to my problem.
Basically what I need to do is to convert a HDV file into a 3:2 dv mov file.
What I did was that I have made a primary conversion in dv anamorphic (16:9) and set the sequence settings like 720×480 Ntsc Dv (3:2), Pixel aspect ratio Ntsc-CCIR 601/DV (720×480), unchecked anamorphic, etc… And there it was, the canvas with my movie with the aspect ratio I wanted. When I wanted to get a proper mov file I couldn’t create one. First I have tried with the compressor, but in dv definitions (standard or anamorphic) the only aspect ratios are 4:3 or 16:9, then I went to try with QuickTime Conversions, but unfortunately I was there facing the same problem, aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9.
I have tried with other formats like H.264 and it came out perfect, but it’s not DV/DVCPRO Ntsc…..

So, this is my problem, hope someone can help me solving it….

    Thanks

    T.

3:2 is misleading, because DV uses nonsquare pixels – the pixels are taller than they are wide. The square pixel counterpart to 720×480 DV would be 640×480, or 4:3. Just forget about 3:2 and think of it as 4:3.

    Thanks,
What I am looking for is a kind of stretched format which can be used for dvd post prods.
I have to convert the original HDV files into 16:9 anamorphic but the final sizing has to be this kind of stretched format but still keeping it 720X480.
One time, I have changed the sequence settings into Ntsc dv (3:2), and suddenly I got my footage with the right ratio in the canvas . The only problem is that I have to convert that thing into a DVCPRO/NTSC mov file but the compressor only let me do it in 16:9 or 4:3, and if I do that I loose the 3:2 and the self contained movie once converted shows up in 16:9 or 4:3.
