  • Convert Triangles to Poly’s

    Hey Guys-
Embarrassed to ask this, but would appreciate a response.
I’ve been handed a .3ds scene and a .c4d scene BOTH with triangles throughout. I’m trying to use UN-Triangulate on the triangles and it only converts a portion to Poly’s.
What’s the RIGHT way to do this please?

    Thanks in Advance Guys-

Untriangulate is the best way to do it, but depending on how the mesh was constructed it may be impossible to create an all-quad mesh automatically. You might try playing with the Angle parameter.

    Hi Darren,
quads are possible only if all four point share the same plane, otherwise you can use n-gones but those only hide the triangulation.

    What?

    Hi Adam-
Thanks very much for the response. You were absolutely right on playing with the Angle…tried various permutations on Creating N-Gon Checkbox and various angle values….things are better.

Thanks Again….wanted to make sure that there wasn’t a silver bullet I was missing.
