  • Convert project from Premiere Pro to FCPX?

Contemplating trying a project on FCPX. It’s already in Premiere Pro CS 5.5.2 and it would be nice to just import that into FCPX and not have to sync sound and make subclips all over again. Is this possible?

All that’s been done with the project is import AVCHD files (have the original folder structure for all cards from the camera, sync sound and create “Merged” clips in bins, create subclips of selections from “Merged” clips, and created sequences of dailies using the “Merged” clips. Other than that, there’s been no editing done yet.

One thought I had was to go from PP to FCP7 then to FCPX, but I know FCP7 won’t work with the native AVCHD files.

    Any ideas on this?

I supposed you could export an XML, open it in FCP7, export an XML again and then use the 7toX app to convert it to X’s format. Or you might try the 7toX app directly on the Premiere export. But I’d doubt that would work. I’d suggest just recreating the project from the ground up- as the interface is significantly different. Square peg vs. round hole…
