    Hello,

I have what I know is an amazingly dumb question, but I can’t figure it out on my own and after an exhaustive search, I can’t find any support forums that address my question.

After purchasing a vector image, I am trying to import it into after effects as a composition with layers but it does not recognize the paths that are siblings of the parent layer. In Illustrator, there is a parent layer and then paths that make up the composition. My question is how can I convert the paths into layers so that I can edit the image in photoshop or animate it in after effects. Any advice on how I can do this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! Mark

Are they layers within layers (sub-layers)? In that case, just move the sub-layer out of the parent layer – so that it becomes a “main” layer as well. Then save it.
