Convert mov into mts for smaller archives?
Recently made the switch from MiniDV to SD card. Discovered original mts files are significantly smaller than the mov’s I have to convert them into for editing in FCP.
Is there a way to convert mov’s back into SMALL mts’s for archiving purposes? WinxDVD converter can do it, but doesn’t reduce the size of the file.

Although this doesn’t have anything to do with Video Copilot: What happened to the original mts files? Why don’t you just archive them?

See, that would have been the smart thing to do. But this was my first project after converting from the world of MiniDV, and I didn’t think of keeping the original mts’s. 😛

Hmm. Maybe just compress them in some other way — ZIP archive or something? (Almost) every conversion reduces footage quality.
