November 22, 2018 at 1:17 pmVegas Pro has an option to import a DVD and then you could render it as MP4. It’s in the File | Import menu. I’m not sure it would work for Blu-ray. For that you could possibly use Handbreak (never tried it). There are free DVD/Blu-ray Rippers out there but I would be careful because some of them could contain malware but their sole purpose is to convert optical discs to MP4 so they make the job very easy.

November 23, 2018 at 9:27 pmHi John since posting this I have downloaded lots of free and paid trail software including handbrake, most of the free stuff did not work, they would read the chapters with photos in but not the video.
I then installed the trail version of Xilisoft Blu-Ray Ripper SE and this just worked from the off. But this then gave me another problem, that it encodes all the chapters as single video files.
So I ended up trying the built in Windows 10 joiner in the Photo app but was not impressed that it tried to take over your video. So I then tried Wonder-share Filmora and this works great to join the video, so happy days.

November 24, 2018 at 9:46 amHi Michael I have tried Handbrake and i could not get it to work on most of my B/ray disc’s. It would read the video that I had as picture slide shows but not the main video of the project.
I tried all different settings in it but still had the same result, if you search on line a lot of peeps have the same problem. I even tried it on three different computers.Mick

November 24, 2018 at 4:14 pmMick, Handbrake CAN convert Blu Ray to mp4 …. https://www.dvd-guides.com/guides/blu-ray-rip/259-rip-blu-ray-to-mp4-using-handbrake
BTW, I was also able to convert both DVD (vob files) & Blu Ray (m2ts files) from the timeline of Vegas Pro. Just be patient as it loads (it automatically loads onto your hard drive’s temp file).
