Convert a 13.4GB file to 100MB
Posted by Nelson May on May 22, 2006 at 9:49 pmIs there a way to convert a 13.4 GB file into 100MB. I have a .mov file that I want to put up on a website. It also asked for .mp3 audio.
Any tricks?

May 22, 2006 at 9:59 pmI’m assuming this is a DV file that’s about 1 hour in length? Is that correct? If not, how long is it?
Is this a website where you can type on the top of it: “VIDEO REQUIRES QUICK TIME 7” or is it something that you want lots of people to see without having to worry about players and downloads? If you’re just showing something to other video-savy people that’s probably ok. If it’s the general public it might not be.
Is the entire video handheld or tripod footage? If a mix of both, how much of each? (Rough guess)
Right now you can open it up in Quick Time Pro and export just the audio as an MP3 file. That should be simple enough to get started on. There are lots of options for the video, but I’d need to have those questions above answered before I could suggest something.

May 22, 2006 at 10:09 pmIf you have access to Sorenson Squeeze, you could use that to convert your file into a variety of compressed formats for stream or download.

Well, it can.
Your screen size will be 120×90 pixels, the frame rate will be 2 fps. You might be able to squeeze 3fps.bogiesan
This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
