Convert 720×480 to 720×327
I’m creating a video to be displayed on a video wall with the resolution of 720 X 327. I edited the whole project at 720 X 480 dropped that sequence into a new sequence with a custom size of 720×327. I then output that as a self-contained QT using the current setting. Once I checked the output I noticed there were horizontal lines that appear whenever there is a lot of movement in the frame. Why is this and what can I do to correct it? Is there a better way to convert this?

That looks the interlacing having a heck of a time trying to figure out what the heck you are trying to do. What the heck are you trying to do? What plays a 720×327 file correctly? What form of media are you playing off of? A computer? If so, how are you getting out to the video wall? Answer these and we’ll go from there.

This will be displayed on a LED Screen with an aspect ration of 2.2:1. I will deliver them QuickTime files that a video DJ will then play at the event. My concern is getting them the Quicktime files without those horizontal lines? I don’t know how they will be running video out of the computer, I’m still waiting to get intouch with the Video DJ. Is it important to know this if I’m just giving them quicktime files?

Hey JeremyG, your comment got me thinking about the interlacing, so I tried setting the Field Dominance to “None” and the lines are no longer there. This seems like it may have solved my problem. Do you see this creating any unforseen problems?

NOt at all, as a matter of fact, it’s better. LEDs can’t interlace. I was going to suggest cropping (a letterbox of sorts) the movie so the resulting movie is 720×327. And then crop that upon export. Sounds like you found the magic button. I’d double check that aspect ratio as its kind of weird, but who knows, you can do anything these days.
