Please help me with this, I have a project edited in HD 1440 x 1080
    upper (odd) 29.97
I saw the recomendations to capture HD video in DV too late, so I have it all in HD now. I want to compress it for dvd, but the results I have with quicktime conversion are really bad. Compressor, don’t work,so I don’t have that choice right now.
Is there any possibillity to have a decent dvd compressed from quicktime conversion? I did one with quicktime conversion in dv/ntsc, and the quality was ok, the movements of camera are not good, but I could not get letterbox.
I tried to print to video, and I could not either, the camera is Sony HDV 1080i/minidv/ CMOS
my apple is I Mac 24″ 2,8 GHZ

Thank you, it is my first time working with HD video,

I had touble with capture now in fcp 4.5, then I took the quicktime receipts to the trash and updated quicktime in my G5 Mac Os 3.9 to quicktime 7.5. I solved my capture now problems, and now I finally can do it. But FC do not open my existing projects. It begins to open the project, and in the 18 % the program shuts down inexpectedly saying Kern Protection Failure.
New projects are fine, I can begin a new project, the problem now is with the existing ones.
Please if you can help me, I had some work to do.
    Thank you,
    Romina

[Romina Ordóñez] “I saw the recomendations to capture HD video in DV too late,”
I think that is a very bad advise.
You will always get much better quality from the HDV footage.
For the rest of the issues, I think you should update your two computers.
Your G5 can works very well with Leopard, FC 6.0.5, etc.

Thank you for your answer, right now I am just dealing with the hd project, I want to compress it for dvd, but compressor doesn’t work. Is there another way to compress hd timeline fine for dv. Quicktime conversion?
My old G5 had a logic board problem, so I don’t have it right now.
    Thank you again.

    Hi Romina,
If you have DVDSTP, you can make the downscaling in FC, then the MPEG-2 with DVDSTP.

Rafael, thank you. I didn’t have DVDSTP, but I found the way to do it in the quicktime conversion, it took a lot of time, and a lot of disk space, but what was important, it ended with a great quality in dvd.

    I did it like this:
    APPLE PRORES HQ
    Interlaced: top
    dimensions 1920×1080
    🙂
