Controlling volume in a track
Posted by Ben Win on April 4, 2014 at 5:04 pmHow can I adjust the volume of an audio track in different sections? I remember accidentally stumbling upon a feature that allowed me to drag a line to determine the volume of a section,

April 4, 2014 at 5:10 pmVolume envelope is what you’re looking for.
Click the audio to select it and press the V key to display the line.
Double click the line twice at the start and end of each section to add points and then drag the area between the 2nd and 3rd points up or down as needed. -

April 5, 2014 at 2:17 pmIf you find yourself making a lot of volume adjustments, you might want to use the Track Compressor to smooth out the levels. It’s a lot faster than making hundreds of envelope adjustments.
Start with the “[Sys] 2:1 compression starting at -18 dB” setting and increase the Threshold to affect more of the audio and increase the Amount to limit the dynamic range. In other words, Threshold affects “what” is compressed and Amount affects “how much” it is compressed.
