  • Controlling spotlights color with an input?

Posted by Judd Albrecht on October 7, 2016 at 5:06 pm

I’m looking to control the color of a spotlight dynamically. I want to use a solid color, let say red and plug that into the spot light so if I change the color of the solid to blue the spotlights color will change to blue. Anyone have any clue if this is possible? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Judd

So I stumbled on a solution after posting this. I put a Projector 3D into the Spotlight and the solid color into the Projector 3D and it worked.

Total half ass’d answer, cause i can’t really tell you how to do it, but i recently saw an old eyeon tutorial where Eric mapped (with an expression) the rgb value from one item onto a second item. (i think it was an Eric tutorial). Anyway, my point is an expression should be able to point to rgb values from a solid, and then remap those to the rgb values of your light color.
