i was wondering how a guy could control saturation with an expression. i have a foto that i would like to control with an expression to desaturate and possibly also control the lightness.

i have thought i would be able to use a hue/saturation effect but i cannot control it for some reason. i then tried a fill but with that i could not reveal the original image. does anyone have a solution for this?

    thanks for the help.

ps- i used the rgbtohsl expression and then back to rgb. i can control the values with the expression but not to reveal the original material.

How about duplicating your layer, desaturating the top copy, and using an opacity expression to control the amount?

I was going to suggest something similar. If you use a black solid (or other completely desaturated solid) set to the Saturation blend mode and vary it’s opacity that should do the trick.
