    Hi –

I have a third-party client who has asked for an avi of a couple of pieces. At this point, I’m not sure what they are going to do with them, though I think they want to post them to the web.

My question, however, is this; is there a way to scale the AVIs while compressing them? I don’t see this as an option when I do a Export>QT Conversion…? I’m pretty certain they don’t want them to be “full screen” and I’m not sure how to proceed.

    Thanks.

AVI is not sufficient. Like QT, it’s just a wrapper. There are hundreds of mostly obsolete codecs for AVI and only a scant few are available for Macintosh. You need to know what they want. Exactly. The probably don’t know or they’d know better than to ask for AVI which, while marginally supported, has been abandoned except by people who haven’t updated from Windows 98.

You will probably need a different tool to create AVIs for them, if you can get them to tell you what they really want. Honestly, it’s easier to do this on a PC or hire it done.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Thanks –

I thought it was something like that, and I appreciate the reply.
