Open the control panel, select the settings file you want to modify, and press any button on the physical Shuttle and the same button will light up on the little shuttle picture in the control panel and the Keystroke setting on the right will tell you what key combination is being used. You can then select a different key for that button to customize it.

There are two dials. The jog in the center advances frame by frame for precision editing. The outer shuttle ring plays forward and backward a different speeds from slow to very fast.
