    Camera: Sony HDR-CX500V

My first version of Vegas Pro was 9. I have continually had difficulties with rendering AVCHD video. What I have noticed is that the video and audio will fall out of sync in viewing with the program Windows Media Player. In addition, there will be a discrepancy in the video length info as noted at the bottom of the window as viewed with Windows 7 when the file is highlighted/selected.

I had assumed this error had been fixed with later versions of Vegas Pro 9. I had originally noticed the errors occurring after only 3-4 minutes into a video. I had not noticed the problem persisting after later updates in version 9, although I had not rendered out any longer videos.

What has worked as a dependable work around is to render out the video and audio separately and then use tsMuxeR to combine the files.

The errors have continued into Vegas 10.0 including the latest update. I recently rendered one of my daughter’s hockey games. I am including a short video highlighting the errors. There are three segments demonstrating smooth video becoming choppy video, and then developing significant errors.

The errors occur when rendering Sony AVC with AVCHD 1920×1080-60i. When I render out Blu-ray 1920×1080-60i, 16Mbps and Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro separately and then combine them with tsMuxeR, it plays perfectly smoothly.

The file that has the apparent errors plays fine and lists the appropriate length when played from Vegas Pro. However, the length is off by approximately 40 seconds for a 52 minutes video when read via Windows 7.

If anyone has any additional insights into this, I would appreciate it. I will also submit this to Sony Technical Support as well. Thanks.
