So I have a lower third comp that I have created with different transfer modes applied to several layers within the comp to “grunge” it up a bit. There is text obviously in the lower third. Problem is…when I click in the continously rasterize switch in the main comp (where the lower third comp is nested)…the transfer modes on the grunge layers behave however….whenever i try to adjust the opacity of the lower third comp so it fades up the text doesn’t adjust with the rest of the comp….the text just appears and then the rest of the lower third comp fades up….as it should since i have keyframed it….the text just isn’t fading with the rest of this lower third comp….any thoughts?

Blend modes are weird like that. Explore the Transofrm effect and there’s another one from CC that forces some effects to fully rnder before being passed up the render pipeline. It’s realy cool and rarely used.

But… for the same of your workflow, what would suggest you do is pre-render the comps that create the background for your text. Import that movie. That way you can easily reuse it and apply all kinds of other effects and transitions to it. Plus, you streamline the rendering tremendously since it only get sp processed as a movie eliminating the redundant effects processing.
