    Hi! Unfortunatly I do not know what terms to search for, so I would like to place this request: how can I tell a layer to be exactly like another?

    layer x := layer y;

    I need this because I want to duplicate a bunch of layers and echange a layers footage, without disturbing other effects linked to this special layers … to have a nicer workflow.

    Hopefully someone undestands,what I am talking about.

    Thank you.

    You could use a script. The details would depend on exactly what you’re doing, but it would involve layer.duplicate() and layer.replaceSource().

    You can just duplicate the layer (cmd-d/ctrl-d) and then, with the duplicate layer selected, opt-drag a new footage item from the project panel into the timeline. This will replace the footage of the layer while maintaining all keyframes/effects.
