Content for broadcast
Is content for broadcast (or YUV in general) either field rendered or not?
Or is this sometimes done on specific clips as neccesary?I’ve read that some who do 3d animation for tv/video don’t bother with field rendering. Is this because they solve the issues in a different way?

If you project doesn’t include actual video clips, field rendering is not required. Bear in mind that field rendering produces smoother motion, because the temporal resolution is doubled. Certain things might look less “strobe” like. Rendering takes much longer too.
If your project does include (interlaced) video clips, field rendering could be a good idea. The vital thing though is to check that field order interpretation is set correctly for impoted clips.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Many folks working in 3D will render out 60 fps progressive and then convert to 30 interlaced for broadcast (in NTSCland).
