  Consumer HD camcorder recomendation

  Looking for recomendations on a camcorder that a novice can use to record interviews in the field. Want to loan the camera with brief training to company employees to capture testimonial at trade shows. Capturing good audio is key. Maybe hot shoe mount for a shotgun mic or external connection for lav. I’d like to keep the camera cost under $1,000. The footage would be edited on an Avid Media Composer.
