I thought all of us had to compress movies to 480? -

But MPEG2 can be sized at HD sizes.
For example, the Blu-Ray Spec permits VC-1, h264 or MPEG2 streams @ HD sizes.

So on DVDs, there is NO way to get about 480 on it?
You must burn to a BLU-Ray, and have a BLU-RAY player to have anything above 480?
