    Hello all,

Hopefully i will be able to resolve this issue.
I just finished the project and as a good practice wanted to make sure all my media files in the same location.
Clicked “Consolidate project media files” , got message ” nothing to consolidate”

But when I clicked show in Finder in the event browser – it shows all the media on the second external hard drive, from which I imported the media. In Finder it is clear that in the Original media folder there are just alias.

Why FCPX tells me that there is nothing to consolidate? What am I doing wrong?
Oh, while imported I haven’t checked “copy files to FC events folder.

Is there ant possible way still to consolidate all the media?

Thank you very much in advance.

I think you want to choose organize event files.

Yes, you want Organize, as Bret says.

Consolidate will make sure everything is on one drive (if media is spread across multiple
    Volumes).

Organize will bring any media outside of the Event in to the Event.

Gosh, so easy…. Thanks a lot!

Would you suggest to check ” copy to Event folder” while importing, to avoid this problem in the future?

I generally do not. When a project is complete I duplicate the project, creating a new event with just the used media. But those too are still aliases, so then I do the organize thing. After that I have a final project and event with everything in one place.

I have no idea how they came up with the term consolidate. It doesn’t consolidate like other apps. And organize? Gather or copy would be a better term.
