  Consolidated A7Siii footage issue in 2023.12

  Apologies for the long-winded post….

  I have a weird issue – since updating to 2023.12, I can no longer play back consolidated Sony A7Siii UHD ALL-I footage.

  Link to card as usual – no problems, footage plays. Transcode to any codec – no problems. Consolidate – it creates the clips in the usual way, but playback of the resulting clips is audio only, with a black screen (with occasional flashes of the odd frame). VLC plays the consolidated media without issue.

  FX6 footage is unaffected.

  I’ve tried footage from different A7Siii cameras, used different media drives, and reinstalled Media Composer. No dice.

  I’m having the same problem with A7Siii consolidated media created in a different suite, and supplied on a drive. That suite is running 2023.8

  I have noticed that my older v2021 consolidated the A7Siii footage to “XAVC 4K Intra Class 300”. These files still play back correctly.

  v2023 consolidates to “AVC Intra 4K 4:2:2”

  The workaround currently is obviously to transcode – but it’s processor intensive and takes quite a bit longer.
