I rarely use FCPX for crazy pixel athletic stuff like that.
I tend to lean on After Effects.
When I inherit these docs I always hope its just simple cuts.
Then I go in and fix all the multi-layer stuff they accidentally leave in and some J/L cuts to make it plausible.

Just to add to this topic. I exported the problem Project and started a new Library with it.
I still get the persistent Optical Flow crap but I am at least able to move around without the fear of crashing.
I guess its a win 😛

Have you created Projects with this footage? As a test, what happens if you delete all the Projects. Does the Analysis turn off?

Have you reported this situation to Apple?

I haven’t got that far.
There a few iterations of the project.
I’ve been working on the latest so I can move forward.
I can identify the files used in Retime easily and have gone as far as Disabling them.
Deleting I might just do if I have to hand this back to the client.
I’ve given up on reporting anything to Apple/Adobe since 2006.
Lazy I guess 🙁

Update:

A new twist to this project.
When the client said things worked on their end.
They failed to tell me that they didn’t hook up the other drives.
Part of my job was to move the Libary into a faster Thunderbolt 2 drive.
However, they have more files to deal with sitting in other USB3 drives.
Once they connected those drives, the issue reared its ugly head :p
So now I have them copy the files they need to that drive via finder, then run FCPX without the suspect drives online.
Crossing fingers that it’s not the files.
According to the client, the minute they started the Library, it started crashing similar to my results at my studio.
Again hoping its not the files.
