consolidate
OS X 10.10.4 and FCPX 10.2.1.
I create a project folder in the Finder on media raid where I keep all components of a FC project.
(not sure what else to call it/ I don’t mean the space that holds the timeline)I’ll back up the media raid onto another.
Opened a project/library that needed to be updated to latest version.
Did that.Checked finder to discover that the render and media folders/files were in a folder of a different project. Back in FC, Selected the library and created folders for media and render in the folder that also holds this library.
Then I consolidated the media and render files to these new folders in the project’s finder folder.
This did work, the media showed up in this new folders but the original mistaken location also has these files/clips.
So it copied the original media rather than moved it? I though consolidation collects everything into the chosen destination. If not then a lot of space is wasted on the media drive.
In fact all the projects I have on the media raid have the original media and render files in one projects finder folder. I think maybe when I updated libraries as Apple released the updates this was a result. I have always created media and render and back up folders where I want them.
Any suggestions?
