  • Connector object bug? (R21)

Posted by Grant Watson on February 12, 2025 at 1:16 am

I am trying to use the connector object to attach a dynamic dog tag (rigid body) to a dog collar. It works, but as soon as the collar moves in 3D space, the connector object does not go with it. If I stop the tag from being dynamic the connector object works as expected and follows its parent. The spring object also works with the rigid body (but does not give the right effect). Is this a bug with R21 or am I not understanding how the connector object should work?

Below is a very simplified version of the scene that shows the problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gVLd2Ibc0xdDNZVfLVe9JYmci1yqdo3m/view?usp=sharing

Any help/insights that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Grant,

I’m unfamiliar with the Connector tool but I do not rule out that there is a bug in your version, especially since it is relatively new.

Thanks for your reply. For anyone who may have the same problem in the future, the issue was that the main moving object (dog collar in my case) needed to have a collider tag added to it. Then the connector object moves with it. The collider tag doesn’t seem to be necessary if a spring object is used.

Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I have explained it in a screen recording for anyone who may be facing the same issue.
