  • connecting to external montior – stuttering!

    Hi,
I am trying to connect to an external monitor to run my DV NTSC sequence out of FC7 on my Macbook Pro. I am running the video out to S Video into the monitor.

In Final Cut, when I choose ‘view –> video playback –> Digital Cinema Desktop Preview – Full Screen’ and ‘External Video –> All Frames.’ The sequence plays fine in the canvas, but on the external monitor, it stutters.

When I change to ‘External Video –> Off,’and drag the canvas over to the external monitor, it seems to play without stuttering, although it does seem to have the odd artifact every now and then.

Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?

    Thanks!

It’s not a setting, it’s a piece of gear you need… any DV camera would do it for you. Just run a FW cable to it, then set it to it’s VTR settings, and then run the analog outs to your external monitor. then set the system to the DV easy setup and you’re good to go.

It is true. You can loop through your DV camera or use a DV converter. Some DV converters will give you full deck contol with the older 3″4 inch decks and Beta decks. DV converters will also have more I/O options.
