    Hello,

What’s the best way to connect the JVC SR-DVM 700U to a new iMac? The cable Radio Shack suggested was incorrect (USB-A to Serial Cable from Gigaware), and I was hoping to connect via firewire.

I am using the new iMac and Final Cut Pro.

    Thanks!

You mean you have one? And it works? We’ve had two of the SR DVM-600 and they were both trash. The DVD didn’t work or even recognize ANY disk and later we found that JVC knew it when they released them.

The DV tape deck and HD worked fine on FIRE-WIRE to my iMac. The DVD just takes up space.

Wish I could be more positive but that’s the truth.

    Hi Bruce,

I didn’t see your post sooner! I haven’t used the dvr to record anything yet, so I’ll try tonight– thanks for the heads up!

It works great for the dv deck. I do have a one year warranty, so I’m going to cash in on that if it doesn’t work!

I appreciate your time in letting me know.

Did you have any trouble with using the warranty from JVC?

Update: I was able to record to DVD with no trouble. I’m guessing my success lies in buying it refurbished from JVC on ebay, which included the same 1 year warranty the new ones receive.

Thanks tho, for giving me reason to check all the features before my warranty expires!
