  • Connecting Sony PDW-F70 to Mac Pro

Please tell me exactly which cable I need to purchase to connect this XDCAM playback device to my Mac Pro. The manual describes the FAM mode which allows the computer to access the HiDef files as if the unit was an external hard drive. I cant for the life of me find a (propriatory) Sony I Link s400 connector on one end and a standard firewire 400 connector to plug into the Mac Pro. Help…

If you are just looking for a cable connection to transfer XD Cam files then from what I have read and viewed from the manual is that this unit has a 6-pin ilink or firewire connection on the back and these cables have been around for a while. Depending on the Firewire connection you need to make on the computer side will determine the exact cable you need. ilink or firewire 400 cables come in 4-pin -4 pin, 4-pin – 6-pin, 6-pin -6-pin, and firewire 800, 8-pin-8-pin connecters.

    Good Luck
