  • Connecting PC to HD TV

Hey guys my PC motherboard ASUS P5G41T- LX2M has only a VGA output(no HDMI).
My HD TV has no VGA input.

Can I use a cable VGA(PC) to HDMI(TV) to connect my PC to my HD TV?
Will it work or it has to be HDMI to HDMI?
If you need any other info, just let me know.
    Thanks 😉

[Joao Souza] “Can I use a cable VGA(PC) to HDMI(TV) to connect my PC to my HD TV?”

Basically, HDMI is the latest way to deal with Digital INputs or OUTputs. VGA does not – it’s analogue. So whatever you get from your VGA OUTput needs to be converted to Digital to go in to a Digital INput – here that’s your HDMI INput on your TV.

Oh and another thing, don’t bother spending heaps on Gold-Plated Digital HDMI sockets – it’s digital, 1 and 0 – Ones and Noughts.

Here’s a YT video. If you want to be even more reassured in this VGA to this DIGITAL (HDMI INput) search the NET – there’s stacks of it. DIGITAL!

Another possibility is to find another video card that has a DVI port and then get a cable (DVI to HDMI).

Hey Mark I have it but as I never used it, I forget about it.
Yep I’ll install it and use a DVI to HDMI cable 😉

Don’t forget that HDMI would carry the Audio and DVI won’t. If you have a very new TV then it may not have an Audio 3.5mm jack input. I also had the same problem, so had to get an HDMI out card. Before you get one make sure what PCIE version your mainboard has if you do decide later to get an HDMI one. Ideally needs Ver 2.0. Some MBs do work with HDMI Cards with with Ver 1.0 and some don’t…
