  • Connecting mic basic questions

    1. What type of “audio equipment” is “Line” intended for? Is this intended for a mixer?

    2. Is the on-board mic automatically disabled by switching to options other than INT (L) and INT (R)?

    3. Is a “phantom microphone” considered any external microphone that is not connected to a mixer?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes. OR any equipment that is capable of sending a line level signal.
    2. Not necessarilly. When switching inputs 1 & 2 to ext, the onboard mic will automatically record to channels 3 & 4 when shooting to P2. When shooting to tape it will be disabled.
    3. No. Phantom is a power source that is usually required by condensor microphones. If you connect a condensor mic directly to the camera it will need phantom power turned on to work. Dynamic mics connected directly to the camera do not need pahntom power.
