Connecting empty subtitle button to subtitle track in DVDA2?
Posted by stevelearning Steve (learning) on November 16, 2005 at 4:39 pmHi
Could someone please tell me how to connect the subtitle track I have created in DVDA2 to an empty subtitle button made for that track on the main menu?
I would like the viewer to be able to click the subtitle button on and off in the main menu.
Many Thanks

You can’t make one button that toggles the subtitle on and off, but you can set up a button that turns it on which you can use in combination with your media button (with the defaiult = off) or a third button that turn them off.
Create a button with Insert>Empty Button and name it Subtitle On (for example)In Button Properties, set the End Action>Destination to the menu page that the buttons are on. Set the Destination Button to the button linked with the media. Set the subtitle track to whatever’s appropriate.
Now when the Subtitle On button is activated, it turns on the subtitles and highlights the media button which will now show your media with the subtitles.
OR.. you can just make a copy of your media button and set its Properties>Action>set Subtitle Track. ANd have the two buttons:one with subtitles off, one with subtitles on.

Thanks very much for your help. I have taken your last option and copied the media button and it works fine.
One last point – After clicking the subtitles button and watching the video in preview mode and then returning to the menu, the start button is always highlighted.
How can I get the subtitles button to be highlighted when returning to the menu instead of the start button, as I want the viewer to know that they are still in subtitle mode.
I have tried all the button navigation options and end menu without success.
Thanks

Media Properties>End Action>Destination (set specific Menu page), then set Destination Button to what you want selected upon return to the menu.
