  • Confusion Capturing DVX 100 B Squeeze Mode

I shot a film with a Panasonic DVX 100B in squeeze mode. I captured it in Final Cut at 48 kHz Anamorphic and Sequence Presets the same. The capture is fine except in the timeline the clips have no letterbox (they do have letterbox in the log/capture window). I am afraid I might have used the wrong settings for the squeeze mode. Also, was squeeze the best to shoot over letterbox? My DP made this decision but have heard some negative about squeeze.

I also tried to capture in 48 kHz 4:3 since it wasn’t shot with anamorphic lenses and I have the same problem of no letterbox once it gets in. Please help… I’m stuck.

Anamorphic is not letterboxed. It’s native wide screen. If your video monitor has a 16X9 switch, it will display properly.

    Thanks Arnie-
So I shouldn’t expect it to have the black letterbox in Final Cut only in the proper monitor. What capture/sequence settings should I use in Final Cut? Was it a mistake to shoot in squeeze?
