I have some 3D road models from Dosch Designs (see examples at https://www.doschdesign.com/products/3d/Roads.html) that I want to drape over a landscape. These are fine if you have a flat landscape, but I want them to conform to the 3D terrain model (imported USGS DEM), without getting distorted. It seems that all the lowest y-value positions of the road sections need to be the same as the highest y-value positions on the corresponding area of terrain model below them, while the entire verticle proportions of the road model itself must remain the same (note that these individual Dosch road “sections” are made up of multiple parts: curb, sidewalk, roadbed, etc., and long roads have to be created by joining multiple road sections of intersections, straight pieces, curves – just like a toy train set). I have C4D R9 Studio. Any suggestions?

Are you trying to match the Dosch Model to the DEM? Or just map the textures onto the DEM model?

As for the DEM, I would check the vertical scale. The last DEM I downloaded (from the Raster Roam website) had a vertical scale that was much to high. I fixed this by changing the DEM’s y scale to .1

Yes, I am trying to match the Dosch Model to the DEM. The verticle scale of the DEM should not be an issue, as I want the road model to conform to the contours of the DEM no matter where I place it. I can’t simply project a texture, since the road models (particularly the curbs) are 3-dimensional.
