i have an offline edit on media composer for a video i’m working on.

i need to conform it/online it with the original footage. i’m unfamiliar with onlining with avid (i’ve done it it fcp, and as long as naming conventions and timecodes are the same, no problem) but they want it done it avid. is there a workflow that someone could help me out with it? what’s the simplest way to reconnect to the high res original footage.

the camera used was a nikon d5 footage. and those clips were compressed down for an offline. and there are some clips that were downconverted to dv and have the d5 tape. so timecodes are the same. so just trying to understand the onlining process.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you first convert the Canon footage to a HIGH RES Avid format, THEN transcode to an offline codec? Or just convert to the offline codec and start editing? If the latter…bad bad bad.

Wait…NIKON D5? Not Canon? And what do you mean by you “have the d5 tape.” What tape? Those cameras don’t shoot to tape.
