Have never seen this in 6.5, but when I import files into a project, it sits there “conforming audio files” for a while. Then I see that it’s created around 4 gigs of audio files on the same drive?

What’s up here? The raw avi’s are 16 bit 2 chanel “front-center” 48000 sample rate, but for some reason Pro wants to change them to something else, taking time and space.

Any way to make it work with the sound in the avi file itself, like 6.5 does?

    Thanks.

    No.

The advantage to conforming is that Premiere Pro does not have to take the time to separate the audio and the video while trying to play it back in realtime. And it also allows you to edit audio at the sample level instead of at the frame level. And the edits are cleaner at 32 bit than they would be at 16 bit.

There is no way to turn off conforming in Premiere Pro 1.x

Thank you. I thought maybe there was a way to change my Pro settings so they would be the same as what’s on my captured avi, but I see there are some advantages. It’s not a major thing in any event.
