conform image sequence
is it possible to automatically conform a load of tiff sequences into native HDV files that can be played at real time, without actually placing them into sequences and rendering those?

can anyone suggest a good workflow for getting a large number of tiff sequences into a format that editable on a computer without a raid array etc?

They are already editable, you don’t need to convert them.
Read up on “numbered stills“.
You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

the problem is that they are uncompressed and thus my (lame) computer is not capable of playing them back at real time.
i have a lot of rushes and need to be able to scrub them at will. mpeg2 is adequate for delivery so I thought it made sense to convert everything first to ease the pain of editing…

I see. I recommend you convert to DV AVI Type 2 format for best playback results.

Eddie– I frequently have the same need. I use Cleaner, as I’ve had a copy for several years, and it does quick batch work. There are probably other (cheaper) batch solutions you could find to do a conversion “off-line”. DV widescreen would probably be my choice too, for rushes.
I believe if you have CS4, you can use that MediaEncoder to set up a batch.-jeff
