    Before exporting an HDV sequence to Compressor to create an HD DVD asset, it is a bad or good idea to “conform” the sequence? Since Compressor is going to re-encode the material as an mpeg2 file, I wonder whether having FCP re-encode the mpeg2 adds an unnecessary step and whether this step results in a loss of quality.

    I understand that this question doesn’t apply in the case where the HDV file at 25Mbps will fit onto a 4.7GB DVD without further compression.
