Hello, I am posting this to both the FCP and Avid forums, because I think this question is relevant to after editing is done, and the final conform is done at the post-production house, so it should not matter if the editing was done in FCP or Avid, since one provides just the EDL to the post place.

I edited a short film on FCP, original film footage that was transferred to digital for off-lining. The original film footage was also saved on tape to BetaSP and DVCAM. The external hard drive that contained all my log-and-capture clips and the FCP project was recently stolen, and I did not have a backup. However, I do have a backup copy of the EDL. I’d like to know if I can take the EDL and original raw footage (either film or the tape copies) to a post-production house to do the conform. This is what I originally remember doing, except I can’t remember how they also loaded the music. I don’t want to have to go through the process of logging and capturing again if I can help it.
This work was done back in 2005, so the post house probably has not saved the conform data. It looks like I saved both A mode and C mode versions of the EDL.

Is there any way to re-create my logged and captured clips from the EDL? Thanks for any help.

are you saying they didn’t save the project? Surely they did. I’m thinking you can skip the EDL fun and just batch in another FCP suite.
