Working with some PAL footage. Not a genius at FCP.
Clicked on Conform 25 to 24 under the tools menu, thinking it was an effect, and I’d get a peek at how it would look.
In actuality, it altered the quicktime clip itself – and it’s not easily removeable, to the best of my knowledge.
I don’t have access to a PAL deck to redig, and frankly don’t want to put up my own cash to rent one because of a stupid mistake.
Apple Z wouldn’t undo this. Anybody have any thoughts as to how I can change this clip back to 25 fps without losing quality?
    Thanks.

You should be able to use Cinema Tools to conform the quicktime back to 24.

    Thanks, Jeremy.
My problem is the reverse, though. I’m trying to remove the pulldown, and get it back to 25fps. So the frames that it pulled when I hit the conversion button would need to be replaced.
I have precious little Cinema Tools experience, so before I start messing around in there, can it take care of that?

-The remove advanced pulldown feature under the Tools menu in FCP tells me that the footage is not DVCPRO or DV50, so that function won’t work on the clip.

–this is what I get for being too excited about the new buttons in FCP 5.

    Thanks.

No problem. In fact when you hit conform 25 to 24, there are no extra frames that are created or taken away. Cinema tools simply slows down the footage 4.1% so it plays at 24fps. So you will notice that the length of the file will be longer then the original. When you conform back from 24 to 25 it is simply speeding it back up. The image is not touched, it’s just a matter of it’s playback speed.
