Is there anyway to restrict particles to a specific area, either using a mask or an alpha matte or something? I can’t just mask or matte it because that cuts through particles along the edges, which isn’t going to work for me.

Not sure if it’s even possible,

you can use air resistance (in physics>air) to slow the particles to a stop, if that’s what you need… but i can’t think of a way to fully contain them otherwise.

If you set the Physics mode to “Bounce” then you can use a floor and wall layer to contain particles, but you won’t have access to the “Air” physics attributes.

If you need fine control over where the particles travel then I recommend using the Motion Path feature in the Air physics mode.
