  • Configuring Resolve with two GPUs

I’ve been using the Resolve Lite beta on Windows and really enjoying it.

I have two GPUs as per the recommendation. Once is an Nvidia GTX 460SE and the other is a GTX 560Ti. How do I make sure Resolve is using the faster 560Ti for video and the slower for the GUI? Or is it smart enough to figure that out on its own?

I had the same question a few weeks ago, and here’s where we left it…

Resolve will complain if you use the same GPU for your displays and Resolve, and it will complain if it doesn’t find a GPU it can use. So assuming you have your displays connected to your GTX460, if Resolve doesn’t complain, it’s using your GTX560.

You should also see a “1 GPU” confirmation on the Resolve “About” screen.

Thanks! So right now I have my monitors plugged in to the 560. Does that suggest Davinci is using the slower 460 to do the heavy lifting? And I should instead connect my monitors to the 460?

As I understand it, if your monitors are connected to the GFX card, then that card is GUI. Resolve doesn’t decide, you do based on where you make your connections.

Download this nice little program. It shows lot of information about your GPUs (load, mem usage, temps etc). I think it didn’t even need to install, just run the exe-file. You can run two instances of them, one for each, so you see what the GPUs are doing.
