Condensing Video for Web
Posted by Stephen Lubin on September 6, 2007 at 8:16 pmHi,
Whenever I render something small enough to load onto the web it looses most of it’s quality, so I was wondering if anyone had any certain way of condensing video that still maintains it’s quality?
Thanks!

What format are you exporting to?

September 7, 2007 at 11:04 amCompressing video is about compromises and quality is one. You are probably using inappropriate settings if your compressed video has a .avi extension.
A good starting point; File>Export>Adobe Media Encoder. Set the Format to Windows Media. Set the Preset to NTSC Source to download 512… this would be good for web delivery.
For local playback choose the preset with 1024. -

I list the data rate, file size and duration for each shot.

November 7, 2007 at 11:52 pmHi Steven,
I was searching for some web based video help, which brought me to this thread.
I just wanted to comment on your videos you have posted on your site. First of all, they’re all cool and the information was very helpful to me as I go about learning and trying to figure this stuff out.
Second of all, I had to mention that I was totally mesmerized by the ‘Athens traffic’ clip. The thing that really caught my eye was the way the motorcycles got to constantly ‘cheat’ their way to the front of every light change! Totally unfair! That, coupled with the people walking ‘against the current’ (probably panhandlers) was really fun to watch.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
