  • Computer wont render – Sony Vegas 10e

    HI helpful people,

I have just installed Sony Vegas on my second computer (work) and have just completed a 1.5 hr project. When I start to render it (mt2 – HD 108050i), it goes to the second clip and then tells me there is not enough memory and to close all applications and the project view screen goes red.

I have almost 2TB of space on my hard drive + 120GB on my working drive. The computer is brand new so has very little else on it.

I tried pre-rendering a small section and rendering the start to a different track but it still doesnt like it.

I am currently doing a real time render which is working ok – about a half hour in. but not happy with the lack in quality.

Is there perhaps some setting I forgot to change after installing or does any know what causes this and how to fix it? I am on a deadline. Please use reasonably simple computer language as I am self taught.

NB: I have rendered a 4 min project previously on this computer.

    Thanks

Are you using a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system? The error relates to RAM (lack of it), not storage (your HDDs).

As I have a 64 bit operating system, I use Vegas Pro x64 which overcomes this limitation.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

    hi nigel,

I have a 64 bit operating system, but think I did install it as 32 bit not 64 from memory. Do I need to re-install Sony vegas and the updates?

Will I lose my current projects if I do that – I should probably put them on my external drive?

    thanks

No, you just download the 64 bit version of Vegas from the Sony web site. You can run both side by side without affecting your current project.

    Thankyou so much Nigel,

2 mins spent and my project is rendering happily!

Didn’t expect it to be so easy.

Thanks for getting me to bed before midnight tonight!

[Trudi Mowll] “Thanks for getting me to bed before midnight tonight!”

For an editor, that’s considered an early night 🙂
